Cyclospora cayetanensis is a microscopic parasite that causes cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness marked by severe watery diarrhea, fatigue, and stomach cramps. Health authorities report that cases have surged significantly over the past month, prompting urgent epidemiological tracking. While no specific food item has been definitively identified, past outbreaks have frequently been traced back to imported fresh herbs, berries, or leafy greens.
